Punjab’s caretaker chief minister is keeping a close eye on the implementation of the cotton action plan, according to Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Punjab’s agriculture secretary. During a recent cotton crop review meeting in Multan, Sahoo stressed the importance of managing the crop effectively during its critical stage, in order to meet production targets. He called for better communication between department officers and for intensive monitoring of harmful insects. Sahoo urged officers to establish Kisan Facilitation Centres and conduct technical group meetings in fields, as well as filing a complete data-based report on cotton cultivation by 5 July.
