Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, known for his role in the Indian web series Tandav, recently expressed his desire to receive the recognition and opportunities he feels he deserves as an actor. Despite having a substantial role in Tandav, Ayyub feels that his importance has not been fully recognized. He stated, I think I deserve more. My talent and potential haven’t been explored to its full capacity.
Ayyub believes that he has a lot more to offer as an actor but doesn’t receive the opportunities he desires. He hopes to receive at least 50 percent of what he believes he deserves. However, he acknowledges that he can’t change the thinking of those who make decisions in the industry. Instead, he focuses on owning his craft and delivering better performances with each opportunity.
One of the challenges Ayyub faces is the lack of visibility in terms of movie posters. Despite working on multiple projects over the past six years, he feels sidelined when it comes to poster representation. He mentioned being promised to be on the posters of certain films but ultimately being given reasons that he finds stupid and unbelievable.
Ayyub believes that if decision-makers in the industry start watching and appreciating his work, it might lead to a change in the opportunities he receives. He expressed his desire for the industry insiders to recognize his talent, in addition to critics and audiences.
When asked about the pressure to constantly be seen, Ayyub stated that he doesn’t feel pressured. He believes that his work should speak for itself, and he doesn’t feel the need to be overly active on social media. While he does receive numerous offers, he sometimes has to turn them down due to scheduling conflicts.
In Tandav, Ayyub portrays the character of Imran Siddiqui, inspired by veteran investigative journalist Hussain Zaidi. While playing a real-life character can be challenging, Ayyub trusted director Hansal Mehta’s direction and didn’t feel pressured to mimic Zaidi. He focused on bringing the character to life in his own way while remaining true to the script.
Although Ayyub hasn’t seen Tandav yet, he has been receiving positive reviews for his performance. However, he admitted that he would likely find flaws in his performance when he eventually watches it, dampening his appreciation for the praise.
Despite any challenges he may face while shooting, Ayyub avoids falling into the trap of retakes. He trusts in Mehta’s guidance and decision-making, which has led to a fulfilling working experience.
Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub’s talent and potential have been recognized by audiences and critics alike. However, he hopes to receive the opportunities and recognition he believes he deserves. With his commitment to his craft and continuous improvement, Ayyub remains focused on delivering powerful performances and making his mark in the industry.
