English all-rounder Moeen Ali finally received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) honour from King Charles at Windsor Castle, a day ahead of the Ashes 2023, after nearly missing out on the email notification due to it landing in his junk mail. The award ceremony was postponed due to Moeen not being able to find the proper time to attend. The cricketer’s 16-year-long professional career and valuable contribution to English cricket was recognized with the OBE honour. Despite having retired from Test cricket in September 2021, Moeen decided to come out of retirement and play the Ashes. His decision was influenced by his rich experience playing at his home ground, Edgbaston. The all-rounder will play for England in the opening Test against Australia, which will take place at Edgbaston on June 16. Ali’s family, including his wife and parents, accompanied him to the event where he received his OBE.
