Union Minister Smriti Irani announced that the Modi government has provided 58% more jobs to youths compared to the previous UPA dispensation. More than 8.8 lakh youths have been employed so far, and new opportunities are being generated in both private and government sectors. Irani made this announcement while addressing the Rozgar Mela event in Lucknow, where appointment letters were distributed to approximately 70,000 newly recruited employees in government departments and organizations. Rozgar Mela, an employment fair, took place at 43 locations nationwide, and the Prime Minister attended via video conferencing.

Irani also spoke about schemes run by the government to provide assistance to entrepreneurs, including loans under the Mudra Yojana, which provides loans to entrepreneurs without the need for a mortgage. The government has already handed out loans of INR 40 crore ($5.4 million) under the scheme, with INR 27 crore ($3.7 million) being given to women. Stand Up scheme also provides assistance to women and Scheduled Tribe members.

Irani highlighted how one person getting employment can change the lives of thousands of people, emphasizing the long-term benefits of creating more job opportunities. Rozgar Mela backs this initiative by making appointments from across the country in different departments, with state governments and Union territories also contributing new recruitments.

The Modi government’s efforts to create employment and boost the Indian economy have received widespread support, with the recent announcement of a series of measures aimed at helping small businesses revive from the pandemic’s effects. The decision to provide 58% more jobs to the youth compared to the previous government marks a significant milestone in the country’s development progress.
