The European Commission has awarded a project to The Mobile World Capital Foundation to promote 120 scientific startups, which will receive 4 million euros between 2023 and 2024. The project will be overseen by the European Innovation Council, and the foundation will work alongside 70 experts, most of whom are based in Barcelona. The project aims to channel scientific advances through startups or spin-offs and will include project validation, talent selection, legal and financial services. MWCapital will select 40 projects in collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, while the other 80 will be chosen by the European Commission. This initiative, which will last for two years, demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to technology transfer and innovation. Additionally, the foundation’s The Collider program will continue its activity outside the initiative with an annual budget of approximately one million euros. In his statement, the CEO of MWCapital, Francesc Fajula, praised the project’s significance in expanding the foundation’s technology transfer work.
