MLB Pitcher Trevor Bauer and Accuser Settle Legal Dispute
Former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer and the woman who accused him of assault and sexual misconduct in 2021 have reached a settlement in their legal dispute, according to Bauer’s attorneys. In a statement released on Monday, Jon Fetterolf and Shawn Holley confirmed that both parties have withdrawn their claims with prejudice.
The allegations against Bauer came to light when the woman accused him of beating and sexually assaulting her on two separate occasions during what she initially described as consensual encounters. The pitcher vehemently denied the allegations, maintaining that all activities were consensual.
Although no charges were filed by prosecutors in February 2022, Bauer faced consequences in the form of a suspension imposed by Major League Baseball. Initially, he was banned from playing for a record-breaking 324 games, but the ban was later reduced to 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December 2022. Subsequently, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bauer’s team at the time, decided to release him. Bauer ultimately joined a team in Japan.
In response to the accusations made against him, Bauer filed a lawsuit against the woman, and she countersued. While the settlement does not involve a monetary exchange between the parties, the woman will receive a separate $300,000 payout from insurance, according to her attorney, Jesse Kaplan.
It is worth noting that Bauer is facing another accusation from a woman in Arizona who claims that he held a knife to her throat and choked her until she lost consciousness in late 2020. However, Bauer was never arrested or charged in relation to these additional allegations. In turn, he has countersued, denying the accusations and accusing the woman of fabricating a pregnancy as part of an extortion attempt.
