The latest installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is set to hit theaters on July 12. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film follows Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team as they embark on a mission to locate a dangerous weapon. Known for its thrilling stunts, the Mission: Impossible series has once again raised the bar with jaw-dropping action sequences.

One of the stars of the film, Greg Tarzan Davis, recently revealed his experience filming a particular stunt without the use of a stunt double. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Davis explained that he found himself in a car with his co-star Shea Whigham, who was actually driving. This came as a surprise to Davis, as he had expected there to be a stunt driver. However, Tom Cruise, who is known for doing his own stunts, does not hire stunt doubles. Davis admitted to feeling anxious about the scene and even texted his mother in a panic.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Davis described the setup for the scene, with cameras mounted on the front of the hood and on the side of the window. He confessed that he was not comfortable with Whigham driving, jokingly saying that he wouldn’t even trust him driving on a regular day, let alone in the streets of Rome with people and cars all around. Davis even sent a heartfelt text to his mother, expressing his love and apologizing for any wrongdoing. Unfortunately, his mother thought he was joking and did not respond.

The Mission: Impossible series is renowned for its death-defying stunts, with Tom Cruise himself performing many of them. Some of the most memorable sequences from past installments include Cruise scaling the Burj Khalifa in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and attempting a HALO jump in 2018’s Fallout. Cruise’s dedication to performing his own stunts has earned him accolades from his co-stars, and early reactions to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One suggest that the stunts in the film are equally impressive.

One of the most highly anticipated moments in the film is Cruise’s motorcycle jump, which is considered one of the most challenging stunts in the entire franchise. The scene required extensive training and preparation, and it is being heavily promoted ahead of the movie’s release. In addition to the motorcycle jump, the film’s trailer showcases thrilling car chases and fights on top of a moving train.

In a recent behind-the-scenes featurette, Cruise can be seen speedflying, yet another daring stunt that required careful planning and execution. With each new installment, the scale and intensity of the stunts have increased, and the involvement of actors like Davis adds to the overall excitement. It’s no wonder that the stunts in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One are genuinely scary.

Fans of the franchise and adrenaline-pumping action can look forward to experiencing the heart-stopping stunts in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One when it hits theaters on July 12.
