Nine-year-old Charlotte Sena, who went missing while riding her bike in Moreau Lake State Park on Saturday evening, has been found safe and in good health, according to the New York State Police. The authorities have a suspect in custody, and an active investigation is still ongoing.
After an extensive 48-hour search, Charlotte Sena was located on Monday night. New York Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her gratitude to the law enforcement agencies and partners involved in the search efforts, praising their tireless work in ensuring Charlotte’s safe return to her family.
During a press conference, Governor Hochul revealed that Charlotte had been riding her bike with friends, but had decided to go for one more loop by herself. After 15 minutes, Charlotte was nowhere to be found, although her bike was discovered. It remains unclear who found the bike.
Upon realizing Charlotte was missing, her mother, Tricia, immediately called 911. New York State Police arrived on the scene within 15 minutes, and over 100 personnel, including 75 law enforcement officers, were deployed for the search.
The search effort involved NYSP K-9s and bloodhounds, forest rangers from Moreau Lake State Park, six underwater rescue teams, two drones, an airboat, and a Sonar boat, along with technology experts. Prior to Charlotte’s safe discovery, there was concern that she may have been abducted.
An AMBER alert, classified as a child abduction, was issued on Sunday morning after the missing child report was filed Saturday evening.
