The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Doha, Qatar, has announced the launch of an Associate Diploma Program in Da’wah and Islamic Sciences. This program, in coordination with the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), aims to develop the performance of Imams, preachers, and individuals working in the Sharia law sector of the ministry.

The two-year diploma program is set to commence from the fall semester of 2023-2024. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Kuwari, the Assistant Undersecretary for Dawah and Mosque Affairs at the ministry, and Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al Horr, the President of CCQ, signed an agreement to implement the program.

The main objective of the program is to prepare, qualify, and enhance the performance of Imams, preachers, and holders of Sharia positions in the ministry. With an initial intake of 25 students, the diploma program will provide comprehensive education and training to its participants.

Al Kuwari expressed the ministry’s anticipation for expanding cooperation and partnership with CCQ to implement other scientific, academic, and training programs for ministry employees. This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on sustainable human resources development.

As per the agreement, ministry employees will also have opportunities to teach at CCQ, following the college’s policies and regulations. In return, CCQ highly appreciates this cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The Associate Diploma in Da’wah and Islamic Sciences offers Imams, preachers, and holders of Sharia positions a unique chance to enhance their knowledge and contribute to the advancement of the state.

The college plans to develop a study plan for the program, admitting 25 students each academic year, starting from 2023-2024. CCQ’s teaching staff will ensure a high level of academic and scientific quality, fulfilling all the program requirements for eligible candidates.

This memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and CCQ establishes a strong foundation for collaboration. It sets the groundwork for the ministry’s employees to become future leaders armed with knowledge, aimed at promoting the values and morals of the community for the sustainable development of human resources.

With the launch of the Associate Diploma Program in Da’wah and Islamic Sciences, Qatar takes a significant step in educating and empowering individuals in the field of Islamic studies. This program not only aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Imams, preachers, and holders of Sharia positions but also supports the larger vision of sustainable development outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030.
