A giant town centre charity superstore is set to close its doors as the landlord has decided to sell the property. Mind, the mental health charity, opened its Longton branch on The Strand in 2021. However, the store will be shutting down on Saturday, January 27, as the lease comes to a natural end. Mind is now exploring alternative options in the area to open a replacement branch.
Andrew Vale, the director of retail at Mind, expressed his disappointment over the closure, stating, We are sad to confirm that the Mind shop, in Longton, will be closing on Saturday 27 January. The landlord is selling the unit and therefore our lease will be coming to a natural end. While this is disappointing, we are currently looking into alternative units available in Longton and the surrounding areas, with a view to securing a new premises as soon as possible.
Vale also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the staff, volunteers, donors, and customers who have supported the Longton shop since its opening. He acknowledged the significant impact the community has made, allowing Mind to assist even more individuals in need of their services.
