The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will review Microsoft’s updated proposed deal to acquire Activision. Microsoft has offered to purchase cloud streaming rights to all current and future Activision games released in the European Economic Area for the next 15 years. The cloud streaming rights outside the European Economic Area would be divested to Ubisoft Entertainment. The proposed deal between Microsoft and Ubisoft would allow Ubisoft to license and distribute Activision’s games under different business models and on non-Windows operating systems. The CMA will assess the details of the agreement and its impact on competition before making a final decision. The deadline for the decision is October 18.
