Microsoft has released a new preview build for Windows 11, bringing in some exciting features and improvements. The update, labeled as Build 23511, is being rolled out to the Dev Channel. One of the notable changes is the enhancement made to the Taskbar’s notifications.

According to a blog post by Microsoft’s Windows Insiders, notifications will now appear as a bell in the system tray. When new notifications arrive, the bell will display the color based on the user’s system accent color. If there are no notifications and the clock is visible, the bell will be empty. Additionally, the notification counts will no longer be shown, providing a sleeker and cleaner look.

Furthermore, Microsoft has introduced improvements for Windows Spotlight in this latest build. Windows Spotlight offers users a curated collection of images that can be set as wallpapers for their desktop background. With the new update, users can now view these images in full screen and enjoy multiple opportunities to learn more about each image. To access the Windows Spotlight experience, users can simply right-click on the Spotlight icon on their desktop. They can also double-click on the icon to launch a Bing landing page for more information on each image.

The update also addresses camera streaming issues. If a problem is detected, such as a camera failing to start or a closed camera shutter, a pop-up dialogue will now appear, advising the user to launch the automated Get Help troubleshooter to resolve the issue. This addition aims to provide a more user-friendly experience and assist users in resolving camera-related problems.

In addition to these new features, the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23511 also includes bug fixes. Microsoft has been actively working on refining the user experience and addressing any known issues through regular updates.

Looking ahead, Microsoft has announced its next bug bash event, starting on August 2. This bug bash will involve testing the latest features available in preview builds across the Canary, Dev, and Beta Channels, allowing users to actively contribute to the improvement of Windows 11.

Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out Build 23506 to the Dev Channel. This build introduced various enhancements, including warnings for unsafe copy/pasted passwords and improvements to local file sharing. Additionally, the new Outlook for Windows Preview was made available as an inbox app with this update.

Microsoft continues to iterate on Windows 11, making steady progress towards its official release later this year. Users participating in the Windows Insider Program can enjoy these preview builds and provide valuable feedback to shape the future of Windows 11.
