Meet Dr. Gowhar Ahmad, an exceptional ophthalmologist who has devoted over four decades of his career to improving visions and healthcare in Srinagar, Kashmir. He practices his expertise with both professionalism and compassion, impacting countless lives and empowering communities.
Dr. Gowhar inherited his passion for medicine from his father, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Sabib Kozgar, and his vocation led him to study at the Government Medical College in Srinagar. Following his MBBS, he continued to pursue knowledge by earning a Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology from SN Medical College in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Gowhar’s clinical skillset expanded through international fellowships, specializing in pediatric ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and in Oculoplasty and Neurophthalmology at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He also served as a senior consultant ophthalmologist at GMC Srinagar, Kashmir, and Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Qateef Central Hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
In addition to his exemplary clinical practice, Dr. Gowhar actively engages in academia and research, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Scientific Research and a member of several Scientific Committees for global congresses.
Outside of his medical commitments, Dr. Gowhar finds peace in sports, Zikr, and Ghazals. His dedication to community welfare shines through his tireless efforts to provide healthcare services to underserved populations by spearheading school eye screening programs, rural eye camps, diabetes and glaucoma screenings, and comprehensive eye examinations.
