Shelly Oberoi, the Mayor of New Delhi, has announced that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will create a plan to get stray animals off the city’s streets and provide shelters for them. Oberoi stated that she will organize a meeting with NGOs involved in catching stray animals to create a detailed plan. Additionally, four state-of-the-art cattle-catcher vehicles and 12 pruning machines were flagged off at the event. The vehicles will use CNG and will be used to promptly handle stray animal complaints and prevent any cruelty towards the animals. The pruning machines will be utilized in every zone to solve tree pruning problems, ensuring timely maintenance before monsoon season arrives. The mayor has also written to Cabinet Minister Shri Gopal Rai requesting arrangements for constructing shelters for stray animals. With this initiative, the MCD aims to provide relief to local residents from the difficulties posed by stray animals, as well as ensuring the safety and well-being of the animals.
