Punjab Police has successfully arrested the mastermind behind last week’s robbery of Rs 8.49 crore, Mandeep Kaur, also known as ‘Bandit Hasina’, from Ludhiana’s CMS Info Systems Ltd office. Kaur was accompanied by her spouse Jaswinder Singh while returning from a Sikh shrine in Uttarakhand. The police had previously arrested six accomplices, and one more was arrested with the couple. The police also recovered Rs 5 crore from the six accused and Rs 12 lakh from Kaur’s mother’s scooter.
Kaur and her friend Manjinder Singh Mani, who is also a CMS employee, had planned to rob the company. They, along with their accomplices, looted Rs 8.49 crore from the CMS office on June 10. Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu blamed the company for negligence in securing the cash and recovered Rs 50 lakh from Mani’s house in Abuwal village. He had hidden the cash in a septic tank after wrapping it in a polythene bag.
Kaur and her husband were arrested when they were returning from Hemkund Sahib, pleading pardon at Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib for their crime. Sidhu confirmed that all the accused had wanted to pay obeisance after a successful robbery. The gang was led by Mandeep Kaur, and her husband and cousin were also involved in the heist.
The police launched a Let’s Cage the Queen Bee operation to arrest the main mastermind and succeeded in capturing Kaur and her husband. They got married in February, and the police have now arrested everyone involved. The police commissioner has confirmed that the couple and their accomplices have been arrested and brought to justice.
This robbery has exposed the low levels of security maintained by CMS Info Systems Ltd in safeguarding the cash, leading to a significant loss. It is a warning to other companies to increase their security measures to protect their valuables from being stolen. The police have done an excellent job in bringing the culprits to justice and ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions.
