A massive fire that erupted in the forest area near Dera ki Gali in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district has been successfully brought under control by the Indian Army and security agencies. The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday, posing a threat to lives and infrastructure.

A statement from the PRO (Public Relations Officer) Defence Jammu highlighted the collaborative efforts, stating, Prompt and speedy response of #IndianArmy saved many lives and infrastructure when a massive forest fire broke near #DeraKiGali and endangered Civil and Army Infrastructure. With coordinated and synergistic efforts of civil agencies and security forces, the fire was brought under control in #DeraKiGali.

A video clip shared by the PRO Defence showcased the operation in progress, with dedicated defence personnel engaged in extinguishing the flames.

Forest fires have been a recurring concern, with the latest incident following a massive fire that occurred in December in the Patlikuhal forest area of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. The fire wreaked havoc, destroying forest wealth worth crores of rupees and sending large flames soaring into the sky.
