Several villages in Assam’s Lakhimpur district have been affected by floods caused by heavy rainfall. The Singora River overflowed, submerging many homes and properties in Dolhaat, Solmoria, Chamua, Kolakhua, and Kari Chamua. Many villagers were left homeless after flood waters entered their homes, causing damage to their belongings. Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah visited the disaster-affected area and assured compensation to the victims and relief materials for affected people. Meanwhile, schools in landslide-prone Dima Hasao district were closed for five days following the forecast of heavy rainfall, which could cause a natural disaster in the area. The district has also been put on high alert for the next ten days. The affected people are in dire need of help, and authorities must take swift action to provide them with necessary assistance.
