India’s Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has sent two teams of doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Balasore and Cuttack to assist in providing medical help to the victims of the train accident. The accident involved two express trains and a goods train on three separate tracks at Bahanaga Bazar Station, Balasore district. As per the latest updates, there were 261 casualties, and the injured passengers were taken to the Hospitals of Gopalpur, Khantapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Soro. Mandaviya also instructed AIIMS Bhubaneswar to provide all possible help, such as emergency treatments, ICU and OT beds, physicians, nurses, and staff, to those injured in the accident. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reached the scene to supervise the rescue operation and announced that a detailed high-level inquiry would be conducted. The rail safety commissioner would also conduct an independent inquiry.
