Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to the people of the state not to cause roadblocks and hindrances for the movement of relief material and security personnel. As security threats from illegal armed groups continue in conflict areas in foothills and interior locations of the State, such roadblocks are making it difficult for security and police personnel to respond to attacks on time. The roadblocks are also causing immense obstacles for the free movement of relief material for inmates in relief camps, including pregnant women and young children. Singh urged people to maintain law and order and to return and surrender any arms and ammunition that have been snatched from armed police battalions, police stations, etc. Legal action will be taken against unauthorized and illegal possession of arms and ammunition. Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with officials in Manipur’s Moreh to take stock of the security situation amidst reports of mob looting of arms and ammunition.
