Manhunt Underway for Taxi Driver After Alleged Sexual Assault of British Teen in Magaluf
Authorities in the popular Spanish party resort of Magaluf have launched a manhunt for a taxi driver following the alleged sexual assault of a British teenage boy. The incident took place in the early hours of August 11. According to local media reports, the youngster, accompanied by his mother, reported the assault to the police.
The teenager claimed that the taxi driver began touching him inappropriately during their journey from the party strip of Punta Ballena to the boy’s hotel. The driver then allegedly demanded that the teenager perform a lewd sex act on him. A struggle ensued inside the taxi, and the teenager managed to escape but injured his head on the cab door in the process.
The Civil Guard officers are now working to identify the alleged assailant. A spokesperson for the force confirmed that an allegation had been made and an investigation is underway.
This incident comes just days after a British man was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting another UK tourist at a hotel in Magaluf. The 48-year-old man was accused of approaching a 20-year-old woman from behind, putting his hands down her trousers, and touching her inappropriately. The victim, who was staying at the same hotel as the suspect, stated that she had never met him before. The hotel receptionist alerted the police, leading to the quick arrest of the suspect.
Moreover, last month, two male Irish holidaymakers were arrested on suspicion of raping a British woman at a hotel in the same area of Spain. The pair was apprehended at Palma Airport on July 19 as they were preparing to board a flight to Dublin. They are currently being held in prison pending further investigations.
The series of sexual assault cases in Magaluf highlight the importance of personal safety and vigilance while traveling. Authorities and law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure the safety of tourists and bring the perpetrators to justice.
