Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, expressed the government’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare to every citizen as he inaugurated CGHS wellness centres in Chandigarh and Panchkula. With the expansion of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities to 80 cities across the country, people can access quality healthcare from anywhere. The inauguration fulfilled a long demand of the employees and pensioners, and it is expected to reduce the waiting time for the citizens. The billing and reimbursement cycle will also become quicker and simpler. Mandaviya highlighted the government’s focus on ensuring ease of living for the citizens of the country, adding that people’s access to quality healthcare will only increase. The coverage of CGHS cities has expanded from 25 in 2014 to 80 in 2023. The opening of these wellness centres will mitigate the hardships faced by pensioners in the Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali tricity area and nearby areas of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
