Man Taking Unauthorized Photos of Children at Lethbridge Playgrounds Sparks Alarm
Lethbridge police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was observed taking photos of children without their consent at local playgrounds. On two separate occasions, individuals reported a suspicious male using his phone to capture images of children at different playgrounds.
The incidents occurred on September 24th at a playground on Lakemount Boulevard S., and on September 27th at a playground located at Mildred Dobbs School. In both instances, the suspect would initially position his phone as if taking a selfie, but would then adjust it to capture pictures of the innocent children nearby.
Startled by the situation, the children would alert their peers, prompting the suspect to flee the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with darker skin, and potentially of East Asian descent.
While photographing in a public space is not prohibited, Lethbridge police consider the man’s behavior in the playgrounds highly suspicious. Authorities are urging anyone who encounters similar questionable activity to report it promptly by dialing 403-328-4444.
In response to this concerning incident, let us ensure the safety of our children remains paramount. Police are diligently investigating and reaching out to the community for support. Remember, vigilance and cooperation are key in safeguarding our neighborhoods and ensuring the well-being of our younger generation.
