Man Stabbed to Death in Winnipeg’s West Broadway Area, Third Person Charged

A tragic incident unfolded earlier this month in Winnipeg’s West Broadway area, resulting in the untimely death of a man who was fatally stabbed. Now, a third person has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case. Nehemiah Jarren Fehr, 22, was arrested and charged on Saturday for his alleged involvement in the death of George Nickolas Demos, 50. The incident occurred on August 5 when Demos was found unresponsive in a back lane off Furby Street, just north of Broadway, around 3:30 a.m.

Initially rushed to the hospital in critical condition, Demos tragically succumbed to his injuries. The police had already laid charges of second-degree murder against Jonathan Michael Gladue, 23, as well as a 17-year-old boy. With the recent arrest of Fehr, no further arrests are expected, as confirmed by the authorities in a news release on Monday.

Despite the resolution of the case, the investigation is ongoing, and the police are seeking the public’s assistance in gathering more evidence. They are particularly interested in obtaining video surveillance footage that may shed light on the incident. Additionally, investigators have discovered that approximately two hours prior to the stabbing, one of the accused individuals was involved in a confrontation with a group of seven people (two males and five females) at a McDonald’s drive-thru located at Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street.

In light of these developments, the homicide unit of the Winnipeg Police Service is urging anyone with information or video footage related to the incident or the earlier confrontation to come forward. They can contact the unit directly at 204-986-6508. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or submitting online.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community support and cooperation in combating crime. The authorities and investigators are relying on the public’s assistance to ensure that justice is served and the circumstances surrounding Demos’ death are fully understood. By working together, we can help create a safer and more secure environment for everyone.
