In a shocking incident of road rage, an Audi driver allegedly rammed into a lawyer’s car near Rajesh Pilot Chowk in Gurgaon, hurling abuses and threatening him. The incident, which took place last Saturday, led to an FIR being filed on Wednesday after the victim gave his statement to the police.
The complainant, advocate Lalit Mohan Gulati, was on his way to the Sector 56 market with some friends in his Kia Seltos around 10.30 pm on December 2 when the incident occurred. According to Gulati, a black Audi Q3 was speeding behind him, and it first hit his car from the right and then suddenly stopped in front of him.
Feeling the need to address the situation, Gulati stepped out of his car to speak to the Audi driver who, instead of resolving the issue, resorted to threatening him with dire consequences. The driver reportedly demanded Gulati to move aside, warning him that he had harmed many before and wouldn’t hesitate to harm Gulati as well.
As Gulati attempted to dial the police, the driver deliberately reversed the Audi and drove towards him, ultimately hitting him and fleeing the scene. Gulati’s friends quickly rushed him to the hospital, where he was treated for a fractured leg and other injuries to his head and waist. Due to his condition, he was unable to give his statement to the police until he was discharged from the hospital and visited them on Wednesday to file a complaint.
Following Gulati’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the unidentified Audi driver, with the number plate DL1CS8333, under sections 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt and endangering life), and 427 (mischief causing monetary damage) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 56 police station.
Assistant sub-inspector Chandan, the investigating officer, shared that the police have taken action by registering the case and are currently working to locate the accused. The Audi was registered in Delhi, adding to the complexity of the search. Chandan also explained the delay in filing the FIR, citing Gulati’s initial unavailability due to his hospitalization. However, now that Gulati has been discharged and is stable, the investigation can progress.
This incident serves as a reminder of the alarming rise in road rage incidents and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules. Such incidents not only pose a threat to public safety but also highlight the importance of promoting patience, tolerance, and responsible driving among individuals.
