A Pittsburgh man, Sheridan Marsh, will face trial in Common Pleas court after being charged in connection with an August shooting that occurred at a North Side afterhours club. The incident, which involved the firing of over 30 shots, left another man critically injured. Marsh, 34, was apprehended by Pittsburgh police and U.S. Marshals in October, two months after the incident took place. He faces charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and two firearms counts.
During a preliminary hearing held on Monday, prosecutors withdrew the charges of attempted homicide and endangerment. However, Marsh remains in custody at the Allegheny County Jail, having been denied bail in November. He is scheduled to be arraigned on February 22nd in Common Pleas court. Marsh’s attorney, George Lawrence Saba, did not respond to requests for comment.
The shooting incident occurred in the early hours of August 19th when Pittsburgh police received a ShotSpotter notification indicating the sound of 20 rounds of gunfire in the Perry South neighborhood on the city’s North Side. Shortly afterward, another alert indicated that an additional 14 rounds were fired just two blocks away.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found by police on the rear deck of the afterhours club House of Savvy, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Officers provided immediate medical assistance, removing the victim’s clothing and applying pressure and bandages to control the bleeding. The victim was then rushed to a hospital in critical condition and subsequently underwent surgery.
A total of 36 spent bullet casings were recovered from the scene by the police. This led investigators to believe that at least 34 rounds were discharged during the incident.
