A man has died after falling from a hot-air balloon flying over suburban northeast Melbourne on Monday. Emergency services were called to a busy road in the suburb of Preston, where the man’s body was found. The incident occurred when the man fell from the balloon’s basket just 10 minutes after takeoff. Authorities are not treating the incident as suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner. The National Commercial Hot-Air Ballooning Industry and the Australian Ballooning Federation have expressed their condolences and stated that safety measures are in place to prevent such accidents. The passengers and pilot involved in the tragic incident are receiving support and counseling. The hot-air balloon landed safely in a park in northeast Melbourne, around 7 kilometers away from where the man’s body was discovered.
