Man Fatally Injured After Assault Outside Burnt Oak Tube Station in Edgware

London Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following a deadly assault in Edgware. On Saturday, October 28, at approximately 5:00 a.m., hospital staff alerted the police after a man arrived at a central London hospital for treatment. The victim, 46-year-old Dragos Carabineanu from Burnt Oak, remained in critical condition at St Mary’s Hospital until tragically succumbing to his injuries on Wednesday, November 1.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Friday, October 27, outside Burnt Oak underground station on Watling Road. Detectives examining CCTV footage from the tube station discovered an altercation between Dragos and another individual. The footage revealed that the assailant punched Dragos, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement, resulting in a brain bleed. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command urged potential witnesses to come forward, stating, Even at this early stage, we are aware that a large number of people witnessed this incident and we are keen to hear from anyone who did so as soon as possible. We will continue our work to identify them and those involved.

Bradley added, Local residents can expect to see increased police presence in and around Burnt Oak tube station. Please speak to us, especially if you witnessed this incident or have information about the identity of the man who punched Dragos. She emphasized the importance of providing any information, as a family is now grieving the loss of a loved one to violence.

If you have any information related to this incident, please contact the police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC, quoting reference number 1357/28Oct. Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be reached anonymously at 0800 555 111 or through their website at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are eager to gather all available information to ensure justice is served for Dragos Carabineanu and his grieving family.
