Masontown Man Charged with Making Terroristic Threats Against Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and During His Own Arrest

A 65-year-old man from Masontown, West Virginia, is facing charges of making terroristic threats after allegedly making threats towards an assistant prosecuting attorney and his own arrest. The incidents took place during his son’s home inspection with a parole officer and during his subsequent arrest.

The incident involving the assistant prosecuting attorney occurred on October 9, 2023, while a parole officer was inspecting the home of Jason Lambert, who has multiple pending criminal charges in Preston County. It is alleged that Mark Lambert, the father of Jason, threatened the assistant prosecutor by stating, ‘If he (Jason) gets life then that prosecutor will get life too. I’ll act like I’m security for her and I’ll get her when she least expects it.’ The complaint states that Jason had previously been successfully prosecuted for kidnapping, and the current pending charges could result in lifetime recidivism.

The second incident unfolded on October 19 when law enforcement in Preston County was executing an arrest warrant for Mark Lambert regarding the terroristic threats he had made. According to the complaint, Lambert made two additional threats, saying that he would kill that b**** during the warrant service.

As a result of these actions, Mark Lambert is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail on a $300,000 cash-only bail.

Authorities take threats and acts of violence seriously, especially when made against public officials and members of the legal system. The safety and security of individuals involved in the administration of justice must always be prioritized. Threats like these not only undermine the integrity of the legal process but also pose a significant risk to those involved.

While it is crucial to emphasize the importance of upholding the legal principles of innocence until proven guilty, the seriousness of terroristic threats necessitates a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action. It is the responsibility of law enforcement and the judicial system to ensure the safety and well-being of both the public and those dedicated to justice.

Cases such as this highlight the need for increased security measures and precautions to protect those working within the legal system. Threats made against professionals involved in prosecuting criminal cases should be taken seriously, and authorities must remain vigilant in their efforts to safeguard against potential harm.

The legal process must be allowed to proceed unimpeded by threats or acts of violence. By ensuring the safety of individuals involved, the justice system can function effectively, ultimately serving the interests of the community and upholding the foundations of a fair and just society.
