Title: Man Arrested with £100k Worth of Cannabis and Cash Near Norwich City’s Stadium Faces Sentencing

A man in his mid-40s, identified as Richard Walsh, was apprehended by the police near Norwich City’s Carrow Road stadium in connection with an illegal drug operation. The incident unfolded when officers stopped Walsh while he was driving a silver Audi car, only to discover a significant quantity of cannabis and a substantial amount of cash.

According to the prosecution presented at Norwich Crown Court, a search of Walsh’s residence on Geoffrey Watling Way in Norwich resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 kilos of cannabis. The wholesale value of the drugs ranged between £35,000 and £45,000, with a staggering estimated street value of £100,270. Additionally, authorities also discovered £4,630 in cash at his property.

During Walsh’s appearance at court, it was revealed that he had already admitted to being involved in the supply of class B drugs and possession of criminal proceeds. In defense, Walsh claimed that the drugs did not belong to him and that he was merely holding them on behalf of someone else. His legal representative, Michael Clare, argued that his client played a lesser role as a holder of the drugs and should receive credit for his guilty plea.

Furthermore, Clare shared that Walsh has been grappling with mental health difficulties and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in photography in Norwich. Despite his struggles with addiction to class A drugs, which have significantly impacted his mental well-being, Walsh takes part in running a photography group for former alcohol and drug addicts.

Recorder David Stevens adjourned the sentencing until Friday, October 6th, when the case will be heard by Judge Andrew Shaw, who has previously presided over the matter.
