Man charged in Racine cold case homicide pleads not guilty, bound over for trial

RACINE, Wis. — The man accused in a Racine cold case homicide has been bound over for trial. 83-year-old Fred Wagner-Richardson pleaded not guilty in court to first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Wagner-Richardson was charged in the 1987 murder of his wife, Derby Wagner-Richardson, after decades. Derby was found murdered in the trunk of her car after not showing up for work, bound with duct tape, bruises, and fatal injuries. The murder occurred on the same day she and Wagner-Richardson were finalizing their divorce.
