Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit have detained a 27-year-old man in Derry in connection with a fatal road collision that occurred in Louth in 2022. The man is wanted for trial on charges of alleged dangerous driving causing death in July of that year. The arrest was made by officers from the Waterside Neighbourhood Policing Team in Derry last evening, following the execution of an international warrant. The detained individual is scheduled to appear before an extradition court in Belfast at a later time.
In a separate incident, a 47-year-old man who is wanted in Romania on charges of multiple road traffic offenses was apprehended at Belfast International Airport. He is set to serve a five-year prison sentence in Romania.
