The Delhi police recently arrested a man for inter-state firearms trafficking after receiving a tip-off about his activities. The accused, identified as 26-year-old Mukand Singh, was operating at the behest of handlers based in Dubai and the USA and had been supplying illicit arms and ammunition to criminals in Delhi and Punjab for the past six months.
Singh was apprehended on May 24, 2023, near the Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminal in Delhi. During his arrest, the police recovered twenty-five pistols of .32 bore, two extra magazines, and fifty live cartridges from his possession.
The police have arrested Singh under the Arms Act and are currently investigating to identify all the network’s forward and backward linkages. The police suspect that the accused was part of a larger racket supplying arms and ammunition across the country.
The arrest of Singh is a significant breakthrough for the Delhi police, who have been cracking down on organized crime in the national capital. It also highlights the need for stronger laws to prevent the illegal trade of firearms and other dangerous weapons.
The trafficking of illicit arms remains a major concern for law enforcement agencies across the country, with several cases of inter-state arms trafficking reported every year. Such illegal activities fuel violence and crime, posing a significant threat to public safety.
The Delhi police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities. The police have also assured the public that they will continue their efforts to curb organized crime and ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
