An Illinois man, Troy Bradford Jr., led Johnson County police on a high-speed chase in a U-Haul truck, crashing into cars and fences along the way. The incident began on December 30 when Franklin Police Department officers received a report of a U-Haul box truck with an Arizona license plate that was involved in an armed robbery at an Indianapolis Target. Upon locating the truck, officers attempted to pull Bradford over, but he refused to comply. The pursuit spanned several miles through Franklin, with Bradford driving recklessly and even crashing through a fence. Police eventually managed to stop the truck by deploying stop sticks, but Bradford continued driving until he was physically apprehended by officers. During a search of the vehicle, stolen items from the Target were recovered, along with an airsoft gun disguised as a firearm. Bradford was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, and attempted auto theft. He also has pending charges for the armed robbery at Target in Marion County. Bradford admitted to fleeing out of fear and disclosed his recent release from prison in Illinois. The authorities will hold an initial hearing in Johnson County, and another one will follow in Marion County at a later date.
