West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will visit the site of a train derailment in Odisha’s Balasore district to assess the situation. Banerjee will fly by special helicopter from Howrah district’s Dumurjala helipad to the accident site. There are concerns that some of the victims may come from Bengal since the Coromandel Express left for the trip in Howrah’s Shibpur area. At Banerjee’s orders, a 12-member medical team, 25 ambulances and two hearse carriers have already gone to the accident site to assist rescue operations. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari will also dispatch some ambulances to the scene. State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar has arrived at the crash site.
