Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her comments on the tragic triple train accident in Odisha, saying she lacks mamata or motherhood. Thakur spoke out against politicizing the tragedy, stating that this is a time to stand with the families of the victims who lost their loved ones. The Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Banerjee had disagreed on the death toll in the accident leading to a back and forth. Thakur defended the efforts of Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik and encouraged everyone to work together for those affected by this tragedy. Meanwhile, the Railway Board had recommended the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the accident that claimed 275 lives and injured over 1,000 people.
