Prior to its premiere at Sundance, The Heart was screened at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado and the Chicago International Film Festival in October 2023. This short film marks another step in Malia’s exploration of the entertainment industry. Previously, she worked as a writer on the Prime Video thriller series Swarm, released in March 2023. Showrunner Janine Nabers praised her dedication and described her as an incredible writer.
