Major Roads in Gurugram Set for Revamp to Connect to Dwarka Expressway

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has approved a plan to revamp five major roads between sectors 99 and 115 in Gurugram to connect traffic to the Dwarka Expressway. These unmotorable roads with potholes will be redeveloped at a cost of over ₹80 crore and are expected to be completed within a year. The roads were originally constructed in 2014 by Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran and were handed over to GMDA in 2018. Since then, only patchwork has been carried out on these roads, which were damaged due to the movement of heavy vehicles during the expressway’s construction. The revamp plan includes the construction of Sector 114 outer road, a master road between sectors 102 and 102A, a road between sectors 106 and 103, a road between sectors 106 and 109, and a master road between sectors 102A and 103. The roads between sectors 102 and 102A and sectors 102A and 103 will be important as the upcoming Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital is being constructed in Sector 102A. The GMDA has instructed officials to ensure that the infrastructure being developed must have flyovers and underpasses, and proper drainage systems. The roads will be built in such a way that locals are unable to make any illegal cuts. Apart from the roads, approval was also given to construct a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) box-type new surface drain at Rajiv Chowk to resolve the severe waterlogging issues during heavy rains. Work will commence post-monsoon and will be finished in six months.
