UK authorities seize ‘biggest ever’ cocaine shipment
The National Crime Agency (NCA) announced its interception of the largest cocaine shipment ever bound for the Port of Hamburg in Germany. Working in collaboration with international agencies, the NCA aims to dismantle the criminal networks behind this significant operation.
This record-breaking seizure will represent a huge hit to the international organised crime cartels involved, denying them massive profits, stated NCA Director Chris Farrimond.
The NCA highlighted the detrimental impact of criminal gangs profiting from the UK’s cocaine market, which is intricately entwined with serious violence, including firearms and knife crime. The agency’s efforts to combat such criminal activities are crucial in safeguarding communities.
Notably, this recent seizure surpasses the previous record of 3.7 tons of cocaine discovered at Southampton in 2022. The NCA’s vigilant monitoring and swift actions in uncovering such large-scale illicit activities underscore the ongoing battle against drug trafficking on both national and international fronts.
