The Lucknow Police have recently launched a new initiative, ‘Har Ghar Camera’ which aims to increase safety in the state’s capital. The scheme involves police officials visiting each area and urging residents to install at least one CCTV camera outside their homes to cover the entire area, including passages, alleys, and roads. The police will also involve prominent citizens and corporators from each ward. In addition, business owners and shopkeepers have been advised to install CCTV cameras outside their establishments. The objective of the scheme is to ensure maximum coverage of CCTV cameras in all areas.
CCTVs not only serve as a deterrent but significantly improve the chances of tracing perpetrators and creating a database of criminal activity in the area. Senior police officials have requested that the entire area of their jurisdiction is covered by CCTV cameras. Those who install cameras will be rewarded by the senior police officer. Â The feed from the cameras installed at prominent crossings, places of public gathering, and important routes will be linked to the police stations of the respective area to improve public safety.
Recently, a restaurant situated in Mahanagar installed four CCTV cameras and later received a letter of appreciation by the joint commissioner of police, law, and order. This initiative by the Lucknow Police department will undoubtedly enhance public security in the state’s capital.
