A tragic incident unfolded in Tobago when a reported love triangle ended in the stabbing death of Rae-Ann Lucy Henry, a 39-year-old woman from Canaan. The incident took place in Bon Accord on Saturday, adding to the island’s toll of 10 murders for 2023 so far.

According to the police, the altercation occurred around 9 pm when Henry got into a confrontation with another woman, resulting in her being stabbed. She collapsed on Gaskin Bay Road and unfortunately passed away while being transported to the hospital at around 9:50 pm.

Speaking about the incident, Henry’s mother, Lois Winchester-Jofiel, expressed her grief and shared that her daughter had gone to her girlfriend’s house where she encountered the other woman. While acknowledging that her daughter’s actions were wrong, Winchester-Jofiel also condemned the stabbing, stating, Lucy was wrong to go into the lady’s place to slap the girl, for what reason? She was wrong and the girl was wrong for stabbing her and killing her. I try to be a fair person.

Describing Henry as kind and loving, her mother lamented the loss, stating that she feels empty, useless, and depressed after losing her daughter. Despite the circumstances, Winchester-Jofiel has forgiven the person involved in the stabbing, saying, I wasn’t expecting to lose Lucy in my life. I’m not holding that person at ransom. I was not there. I don’t know what transpired.

Highlighting the crime situation on the island, she expressed her hope for it to stop. Winchester-Jofiel emphasized the importance of love and urged mothers in similar situations to tell their children they love them daily, as those words could potentially be their last. She believes that love is what Tobago needs for a change in its current state.

As the investigation continues, one person is assisting the Tobago police in their efforts. The victim, Rae-Ann Henry, was well-known and loved by many residents in the Crown Point, Canaan, and Bon Accord areas. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of how easily lives can be lost.

In conclusion, this tragic outcome underscores the need for peace and love in Tobago. The incident has left a community devastated, mourning the loss of a woman described as kind and accommodating. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working tirelessly to bring justice to the victim and her family. It is a somber reminder of the importance of cherishing and appreciating our loved ones every day.
