Louisville Men Sentenced to Prison for Series of Armed Robberies and Firearm Possession

Two men from Radcliff, Kentucky, have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a series of armed robberies and firearm possession. Damian Beamus, 27, received a sentence of 16 years and 4 months, while Joshua Dimon Jones, 30, was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett, Special Agents R. Shawn Morrow and Jodi Cohen, and Chief Jeremy Thompson and Chief Jeffrey A. Cross.

According to court documents, Beamus participated in five armed robberies of local businesses within a 30-day period. In each incident, Beamus or an accomplice wielded a firearm and demanded cash from the employees. The targeted businesses included 007 Liquors, Hibbett Sports, Applebee’s Bar and Grill, Stop N Shop, and Brooks Express.

Jones, a convicted felon, took part in the armed robbery of Stop N Shop in Elizabethtown. He was found to be in possession of one of the firearms used in the robberies, despite being prohibited from owning a firearm.

The collaboration between federal, state, and local enforcement agencies in the Western District played a critical role in the successful prosecution of this case, as noted by U.S. Attorney Bennett. The efforts of the Elizabethtown Police Department, Radcliff Police Department, ATF, and FBI were vital in bringing these offenders to justice.

ATF Special Agent in Charge Morrow highlighted the threat that these defendants posed to innocent people during their spree of armed robberies. He praised the investigative work of the law enforcement agencies involved and emphasized that the sentences send a clear message that using a firearm to commit a violent crime will not be tolerated.

Chief Thompson acknowledged the effectiveness of collaboration between law enforcement agencies, stressing that when agencies work together, the citizens of Kentucky benefit. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Radcliff Police Department, as well as the ATF, FBI, and the United States Attorney’s Office.

The case was thoroughly investigated by the ATF, FBI, Elizabethtown Police Department, and Radcliff Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin McKenzie handled the prosecution.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust and legitimacy within communities, supporting prevention-focused organizations, establishing strategic enforcement priorities, and tracking results.

The sentencing of Damian Beamus and Joshua Dimon Jones serves as a reminder of the consequences individuals face when participating in violent crimes. The collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies have undoubtedly made the community safer and sent a strong message to potential offenders.
