Lotus will be making a grand entrance at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with its highly anticipated Lotus Emira. As one of the automaker’s largest stands ever, the event will mark the public debut of the Emira equipped with a four-cylinder AMG engine. Alongside the Emira, three other Lotus cars will also take on the festival’s iconic hill climb course, showcasing the brand’s engineering expertise and performance prowess.

The Lotus Emira, powered by a four-cylinder Mercedes-AMG engine, will be available for delivery later this year. However, US customers will have to wait until early 2024 to get their hands on the First Edition models. This sleek sports car was unveiled two years ago, offering customers a choice between a Toyota-sourced supercharged V6 engine and the turbocharged four-cylinder engine from AMG. These powertrains produce 400 and 360 horsepower respectively, catering to different driving preferences.

As Lotus’ final combustion-powered car, the Emira fills the void left by the retirement of popular models like the Elise, Exige, and Evora. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine propels the Emira from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 180 mph.

While the four-cylinder version will arrive earlier, the Emira powered by a V6 engine is set to debut in the third quarter of 2023 in its First Edition guise. However, the choice of transmission will impact the performance of the 3.5-liter engine. The automatic gearbox limits the top speed to 169 mph and takes 4.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. On the other hand, the manual-equipped version can achieve an impressive top speed of 180 mph and reaches 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. The Emira V6 First Edition will be available for purchase at a starting price of $105,400 (excluding the destination charge).

In addition to the Emira, Lotus will also showcase its Eletre electric crossover and the Evija hypercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Eletre, set to start deliveries in the UK and Europe soon, will be featured at the event’s First Look Paddock, alongside the Emira and Evija.

Lotus is dedicated to revitalizing its lineup, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed provides the perfect platform to showcase their progress. The automaker is actively expanding its portfolio in the era of electric vehicles, with the upcoming Type 133 electric sedan that has already been spotted testing by spy photographers. It is rumored to offer up to 905 horsepower, matching the power of the Eletre R.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has become a favored venue for automakers to unveil new cars and concepts, and this year’s event will continue that tradition. Attendees can look forward to the debut of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Caterham Project V, as well as the much-anticipated Lamborghini LMDh race car. The AIM EV Sport 01 concept, previously revealed earlier this week, will also participate in the hill climb.

Lotus enthusiasts and automotive enthusiasts, in general, are in for a treat at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. With an impressive lineup of cars, including the Emira with its AMG powertrain, Lotus is reaffirming its commitment to performance and innovation. Be prepared for a thrilling display of speed, power, and cutting-edge design at this renowned event.
