Longtime Los Angeles TV news anchor Christina Pascucci has announced her entry into the California Senate race. Pascucci, who spent over a decade as a news anchor at KTLA 5 before moving to KTTV Fox 11 in 2022, revealed her campaign to fill the position left vacant by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein.
In a heartfelt video message, Pascucci emphasized her commitment to putting people over politics and reaching across the aisle to bridge gaps in Washington. She expressed her belief in the promise of California and urged others to share her vision.
Pascucci, 38, also shared that her decision to run for Senate was influenced by her pregnancy, as it ignited a fire within her to effect change. She spoke of her years of experience reporting on important news stories and conducting interviews with politicians, which revealed to her the need for better political leadership.
Running as an independent Democrat, Pascucci outlined some of her key issues. These included the absence of quality education and family support, public safety concerns, homelessness, and the rise of illegal immigration at the southern border. She positioned herself as a moderate consensus builder and a truth seeker focused on legislating effectively.
Pascucci’s bid for Senate comes after the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein, who held the position for an impressive 31 years. Feinstein’s legacy as the longest-serving woman senator in history was acknowledged by Pascucci, who shared a photo of the two to honor her achievements.
Senator Laphonza Butler is currently filling Feinstein’s seat, but it remains uncertain whether she will run again alongside Pascucci in the crowded Senate race.
This marks Pascucci’s first foray into politics, and she aims to make a difference in California while upholding the values that inspired her to enter the race.
