Punjab Sports Minister, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, has ordered an inquiry into an incident at the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) in Mohali, where several sportspersons fell ill after finding a lizard in their breakfast. The minister has directed the special chief secretary sports to investigate the matter thoroughly and provide an action report within three days.
Speaking about the incident, the sports minister emphasized that there will be no compromise when it comes to the health and safety of the players. If any negligence or wrongdoing is uncovered, the responsible individuals will face consequences.
According to reports, the incident occurred at the Sports Complex canteen on Saturday. After discovering the lizard in their food, some players began vomiting and feeling sick during their practice sessions. As a precautionary measure, all affected players were rushed to the Civil hospital. Fortunately, they are now said to be out of danger.
Following the incident, the Punjab Sports Minister personally visited the Punjab Institute of Sports in Phase-9 Sports Complex, Mohali, to inspect the quality of food being served. Accompanied by the Sports Director, Amit Talwar, the minister underscored the government’s commitment to providing a proper diet to the players.
In light of this incident, the authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the lapse and prevent future occurrences. It is crucial to ensure that such incidents do not jeopardize the health and well-being of the players.
