LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman Linked Trump Campaign to Epstein and Russian Diplomat, New Report Reveals
A recent report by the Wall Street Journal has shed new light on the ties between LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, the Trump campaign, Jeffrey Epstein, and a Russian diplomat. The report reveals that Hoffman introduced members of Trump’s inner circle to Epstein, who then facilitated meetings with a top Russian diplomat.
In an email exchange in March 2014, billionaire Reid Hoffman, known for his donations to Democrats, introduced Epstein to venture capitalist Peter Thiel. The purpose of the introduction was to arrange a meeting between Epstein and Thiel at Thiel’s San Francisco home. The email described Epstein as a very interesting guy with expertise in fields such as biology, computation, and macroeconomics. Hoffman later expressed regret for his interactions with Epstein, claiming that he made the introduction to support fundraising for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal show that Epstein scheduled meetings with high-profile Trump campaign backers Peter Thiel and Thomas Barrack in 2016. Epstein then invited Thiel and Barrack to separate meetings with Vitaly Churkin, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations. Churkin had several meetings scheduled with Epstein between 2015 and his death in 2017. It is important to note that the documents do not specify the purpose of these meetings or Epstein’s intentions.
Although the documents do not mention any meetings or conversations between Donald Trump and Epstein, it is notable that these meetings with Russians occurred during the height of the Russiagate investigation involving the FBI.
Peter Thiel, who attended an October 2016 meeting with Epstein and Churkin, described it as nothing memorable and admitted to being naive about Epstein’s agenda. A spokesperson for the Trump campaign clarified that none of the individuals involved were official campaign officials and emphasized that President Trump banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Epstein’s connections and donations tended to lean more towards Democrats than Republicans, as revealed by the documents and campaign donation records. Epstein had meetings with several individuals who had served in the Clinton and Obama administrations. Notably, he displayed a painting in his townhouse depicting Bill Clinton wearing a blue dress and red heels. A spokesperson for Bill Clinton stated that the former president had cut off ties with Epstein over a decade before and was unaware of Epstein’s alleged crimes.
Epstein’s connections extended beyond the political realm, as he had relationships with former members of Bill Clinton’s cabinet and met with Clinton alumni leaving the Obama administration. These connections raise questions about the extent of Epstein’s involvement in the Democrats’ efforts to tie Trump to Russia during the 2016 election.
While the documents and meetings provide insight into Epstein’s associations, they do not establish a direct link between the Trump campaign, Epstein, and the Russian diplomat. The true nature and purpose of these meetings remain unclear.
