Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, has expressed concern over the state of law and order in the capital, calling for immediate action to ensure the safety of the city’s 20 million residents. In a letter to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Kejriwal highlighted his disappointment in the LG’s response to a previous letter, stating it demonstrated a tendency to shift responsibility and a lack of concrete solutions. Kejriwal criticised Saxena for creating impediments in the functioning of the elected government and bypassing the Supreme Court’s judgments, neglecting the safety and security of Delhi residents. He also raised concerns about severe manpower shortages in police stations, limiting their ability to maintain law and order effectively. The chief minister urged authorities to reassess the required number of Delhi police personnel and prioritise the needs of the Delhi police to increase its strength promptly.
