Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently visited Baltal in Ganderbal district to review the status of preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The governor personally inspected the healthcare facilities, communication services, electricity, disaster management, sanitation, and water supply to make sure everything was in place for the pilgrims. He even went as far as to ensure that the Yatra Base Camp had enough doctors, equipment, medicines, and oxygen cylinders.
The Border Road Organisation was instructed to mobilize resources and finish all works before the Yatra commencement, as the Yatra route is in a difficult terrain at an altitude where the oxygen levels are low. It is essential to ensure healthcare facilities and the availability of care around the clock. The governor also emphasized the importance of communication services and night air services on the Yatra route.
To ensure the safety of the pilgrims, the governor directed officials to fit tented accommodations with fire extinguishing equipment. He also inspected the ongoing work at DRDO’s Hospital and other facilities for the pilgrims. It was informed that the hospital will be made functional by June 17.
This year, the Amarnath Yatra, an annual pilgrimage, is set to begin on July 1 and end on August 31. It will commence simultaneously from both the Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal district.
Overall, the Lieutenant Governor’s visit to Baltal ensures that the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra through the Baltal route are in full swing. The governor has taken all necessary precautions to make sure the pilgrims’ journey is as safe and comfortable as possible.
