Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted a LG’s Mulaqaat on Monday to hear the grievances of citizens during a Live Public Grievance Hearing programme at the Civil Secretariat. Citizens who submitted complaints on JKIGRAMS had the opportunity to interact with the Lt Governor, who directed concerned Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to take action where necessary. The Lt Governor emphasized that the administration represents the aspirations of all citizens, and their timely delivery of services and effective redressal of grievances is essential for development initiatives.

The Lt Governor urged Deputy Commissioners to prioritize the concerns of the poor and provide services in a transparent manner. He also invited residents to participate in maintaining public properties such as parks and public spaces in a bid to improve their quality of life. He expressed his concern about fake complaints on the JKIGRAMS platform, calling for people to file genuine grievances for more accountable and citizen-friendly governance.

During the programme, Mohd Afzal Bhat voiced his concern about a dysfunctional well in his locality at Odina Sonawari. The Lt Governor directed the Chief Engineer to make alternative arrangements to provide sufficient water supply to the affected area until the new well is functional. Another citizen complained about the incomplete building of the Government Girls School Dab Ganderbal, to which the Lt Governor responded by directing the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the availability of sanitation facilities and installation of fences.

Later, the Lt Governor chaired a meeting to review arrangements made by District Administrations for the Eid-ul-Adha festival and Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. He urged officials to provide a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure seamless traffic movement during the yatra in Ramban, Anantnag, and Udhampur areas.

The LG Mulaqaat programme highlights the government’s commitment to delivering people-centric governance and promoting transparency and accountability. By addressing citizen grievances in a timely and effective manner, the administration hopes to build trust and promote community participation in governance. The programme also emphasizes the need for genuine grievance reporting to ensure effective use of the platform and efficient service delivery.
