LEC Expands Customer Service Centers to Meet Growing Electricity Demand

The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) is expanding its customer service centers to meet the increasing demand for electricity in Montserrado County and its surroundings. In a move aimed at ensuring robust service delivery and creating job opportunities, the LEC has commissioned nine new Customer Service Centre Outlets (CSCO) starting at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Boulevard Junction in Congo Town.

The commissioning of these new outlets reflects LEC’s commitment to improving its services and ensuring customer satisfaction. The centers will serve as one-stop shops for all electricity-related queries, complaints, and requests. Customers can conveniently access information about billing, meter installations, power outages, and other related services.

Moreover, the Customer Service Centre Outlets will facilitate the process of new connections and assist customers experiencing technical difficulties with their electricity supply. Trained staff members will be available to address concerns promptly and efficiently, ensuring that customers receive timely support.

Monie R. Captan, Chief Executive Officer of LEC, emphasized that this expansion is essential for reaching customers, considering the significant increase in customer numbers. With the customer base growing from 35,000 to 250,000, it is crucial to spread the services across the network.

In addition to improving customer service, these centers will promote transparency and accountability within LEC. Customers will be able to report any irregularities or discrepancies regarding their electricity bills.

Furthermore, LEC plans to extend its services beyond Monrovia, starting with Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Margibi counties. This expansion aims to provide job opportunities, training, and capacity building, especially benefiting young people in the communities where the service centers will be stationed.

The introduction of LEC’s own app is also imminent, enabling customers to download it on their smartphones and recharge their meters conveniently.

Lawrence D. Sekajipo, Board Chairman at the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC), emphasized the importance of providing excellent customer service and commended LEC’s leadership. He encouraged the management to further expand their distribution networks.

Benjamin T. Gboyo, Chairman of the Swaukamore community, expressed appreciation for the improvements made by LEC within the past year. He highlighted the importance of customers being able to purchase their tokens anywhere to avoid overcrowding at LEC’s headquarters, and he assured LEC of the community’s support in preventing power theft.

The expansion of LEC’s customer service centers reflects their dedication to meeting the growing electricity demand and improving customer satisfaction. Through these centers, LEC aims to provide convenient access to information, address technical difficulties promptly, and ensure transparent billing processes. With plans to extend services beyond Monrovia, LEC strives to create job opportunities and empower young people in various communities. The introduction of their own app will further enhance convenience for customers.
