England’s women’s team has announced its playing XI for the Women’s Ashes Test scheduled to occur from June 22 to 26 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Two new players, Lauren Filer and Danni Wyatt, will make their debuts in the one-off test series. Filer, whos has not played for the international level before, was rewarded for her impressive performances for the Western Storm in the last two campaigns. Wyatt, on the other hand, has been playing international cricket for 14 years, and will celebrate her first Test debut at the Women’s Ashes. She played for England A in their recent three-day fixture against Australia, scoring 37 in the first innings before falling to Darcie Brown. Wyatt has also played substantively in the Charlotte Edwards Cup 2023 and is the leading run-scorer in the competition with 273 runs.
The Women’s Ashes 2023 will be a multi-format series that will include one Test, three T20Is, and three ODIs. The Test match is worth four points, while each of the T20Is and ODIs is worth two points. England will be aiming to win their first Ashes since winning the series in Australia in 2014.
